Apple Sues OpenAI Over Alleged Trade Secret Theft

Apple has initiated legal action against OpenAI, accusing the AI company of systematically stealing trade secrets. The lawsuit, detailed in a 41-page complaint, outlines a series of alleged actions by OpenAI and its recruits aimed at acquiring confidential information from Apple. The allegations include former Apple employees downloading dozens of sensitive files, coaching colleagues on how to bypass security protocols, and using private messaging apps to conceal their activities. Apple also claims that OpenAI interviewers specifically questioned candidates about unreleased products using Apple's internal codenames and encouraged them to bring "actual parts" and "prototypes" to interviews. Furthermore, Apple alleges that OpenAI obtained an internal document detailing Apple's employee departure procedures and even misled an Apple supplier into performing a proprietary metal-finishing process without authorization. Apple states that its attempts to engage OpenAI in discussions about these issues were met with no response.
