What is Janjatiya Gaurav Divas?
On 10 November 2021, the Union Cabinet approved declaring 15 November as Janjatiya Gaurav Divas, "dedicated to the memory of brave tribal freedom fighters so that coming generations could know about their sacrifices" (PIB, 10 November 2021). The same release says the day will be celebrated every year.
The release also names some tribal communities whose movements strengthened India's freedom struggle: the Santhals, Tamars, Kols, Bhils, Khasis and Mizos.
According to CBSE's circular, 2026 is the sixth observance of the day, which has been celebrated nationwide since 2021.

Tips to make it your own
- Add a local hero. If your state has a tribal freedom fighter or museum, add one line about it after checking an official source.
- Match the time. One minute is about 130–150 spoken words. Practise with a timer.
- End with an action. A promise, such as visiting a tribal museum or learning a folk song, makes a speech memorable.
- Read more: the Class 10 chapters Nationalism in India and Forest and Wildlife Resources are useful background.
